Cape Town
Cape Town is a city built around a mountain, which is why it never quite behaves like one place. The Atlantic Seaboard, the City Bowl, the Southern Suburbs and the False Bay coast each run to their own rhythm, and getting between them is half the trip. We spent a month here in 2025 and came back again in 2026 — hiking before breakfast, swimming in tidal pools that never warm up, and eating some of the best food we have had anywhere, at prices that still make us laugh.
Copenhagen
We came to Copenhagen for the pastries and stayed for everything around them — the bikes, the harbour you can actually swim in, and a city that is small enough to cross on two wheels before breakfast. Six days in 2024, most of them spent cycling between bakeries, plunging into the harbour and drinking a great deal of very good coffee. It is a city that rewards slowing down, which the Danes have a word for.
Oslo
Oslo doesn't top many European city break lists, and it has never seemed particularly bothered by that. We came for a concert over a long weekend in May 2026, walked into Constitution Day by accident, and spent four days chasing cardamom buns and cheese rolls between a genuinely brilliant food scene and a waterfront that has been reinventing itself for years. It probably won't be the holiday of your life, but it'll be a good one. Don't skip it.
Paris
It’s easy to do Paris badly: queue for the Eiffel Tower, eat somewhere forgettable on the Champs-Élysées, and head home wondering what all the fuss was about. That was pretty much us on our first trip. But we went back, gave the city another chance, and on our second visit we completely fell in love with it. Do Paris right, and it really does live up to the hype.
Sifnos
Sifnos is a true foodie island and easily one of our favourite places we have been. It is far quieter than Mykonos or Santorini — none of the chaos, all of the charm — with whitewashed villages, 100km of ancient footpaths and beach tavernas where you can dip in and out of the sea between courses. We spent a week here in 2025.
Planning & upcoming2
Antwerp + Rotterdam — a long weekend by road
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we found ourselves with a Eurotunnel crossing to use over a long weekend. Having already explored Lille, Bruges and Ghent, we've decided to venture somewhere new: Rotterdam, via Antwerp.
Folegandros · wild coast, slow tables
A working map for your trip: seven nights on Folegandros, a night in Fira at either end, and a deliberately loose rhythm of island cooking, old paths, swims and a few thoughtful modern places.
